Eclipse Solar Sponsor Young International Kayaker

Eclipse were lucky enough of having the opportunity to sponsor one of the Sunshine Coast’s and Australia’s best young sporting talents Jordy Jones.

Jordy competes in Flat Water Sprint Kayaking, at an international level and has represented Australia for three years running.

2011 saw Jordy competing for the first time in the World Regatta, held over three days in Brandenburg Germany on lake Beetzsee.

“The competition over there is so tough! The immense range of different nations made it exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.

 I was seat one of the WK4 (Women’s k4) and therefore had a lot of pressure on me for I had to set the pace of each stroke perfectly while applying as much power as possible.  Lining up on the streak (starting line) was the greatest feeling I have ever experienced, the eagerness and nerves running through me. The crowd’s enormous cheers were amazing! Seeing yourself lined up on the big screen was tremendous, the race was so much fun, we had nothing to lose so we gave it everything.”

Jordy’s Australian team won their first heat as well as their Semi Final and were placed fourth in their final being the first time that an Australian women’s k4 team were ever to make a final in a Junior World Champs.

Everyone at Eclipse was extremely excited at the better than expected results and have been really proud of their association with Jordy, and look forward to aligning their support well into her future.
